Mulch Madness Workday

Sprucing up Aldie Mansion’s planting beds for the spring and summer and prepping the beds for future plantings to create a more bird friendly habitat in support of Doylestown becoming an Audubon Bird Town. *Read more about Bird Town below.

We will focus on weeding, raking debris and mulching the planting beds at Aldie Mansion. Once those items are completed, additional tasks may include trimming back ivy, trimming back perennials and planting a few cold-tolerant annuals.

Michele Koch, Volunteer Coordinator, at 215-345-7020 x140 or mkoch@heritageconservancy.orgwith any questions or to register your participation. In the event of bad weather, please let us know the best way to reach you the afternoon before or morning of the work day.

***Kindly RSVP by Thursday, March 29, 2012. We can accommodate up to 25 volunteers at a time. Some of Heritage’s staff will be helping as well.***

WHAT TO BRING: All volunteers should wear sturdy shoes/boots, dress comfortably and bring a refillable water bottle. We have gloves for volunteers to use, but feel free to bring your own if you have a favorite pair. We could use extra metal leaf rakes, wheelbarrows and pitchforks. If you can bring any of these items, let us know when you sign up and clearly mark them somehow so you’re sure to get them back. Youth volunteers aged 12-17 must bring a Volunteer Release Form with signed parental consent with them or have their parents sign a form the morning of the workday. Adult volunteers must sign a Volunteer Release Form prior to participation, too. A PDF of the release form can be found below if you’d like to print it, complete it and bring it with you to the workday. We will also have copies of the form available to fill out at the workday.

Meet at 9:00 am in the courtyard (directly in front of the mansion) where volunteers will be given instructions and assigned a clean-up location.

LUNCH AND DRINKS WILL BE PROVIDED FOR VOLUNTEERS FROM Noon-1:00 pm.
