Clifford C. David Jr.

Heritage Conservancy is proud to announce that its President, Clifford C. David Jr., was elected Chairman of Pennsylvania's Conservation and Natural Resources Advisory Council (CNRAC ) on July 1, 2007 for a two year term at the Council's meeting in Harrisburg. The Council, comprised of appointed citizen members with a broad diversity of experiences and perspectives, was established in 1996 to provide the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), the Governor, the General Assembly, and the public with advice regarding the conservation and stewardship of the Commonwealth's natural resources.

The Conservation and Natural Resources Advisory Council consists of the Secretary of Conservation and Natural Resources, Michael DiBerardinis, and 18 Pennsylvania residents who are appointed either by the Governor, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate or Speaker of the House of Representatives. The term of office for each appointed member is three years.

The Council reviews conservation and natural resource laws of the Commonwealth and makes appropriate suggestions for their revision or modification. CNRAC also advises the DCNR on such issues as forest management and biodiversity, grants and land acquisition, and state park programming and development.

Cliff David, Heritage Conservancy's President, says, "It is a great honor to have been elected by the Council to serve as Chairman. Having served on the Council since 1999, I believe we have much that we can build upon in advising the state as it continues to explore new and innovative methods to save and preserve open space and our state's natural resources. Conservation of our natural and historic heritage on a regional level relates directly to the quality of life of all residents of Pennsylvania and the enhancement of the economic viability of the state for now and all future generations. I'm pleased to be part of this group of talented citizens that work with the DCNR to help fulfill their role as stewards of Pennsylvania's natural resources. The Council complements very strongly everything we do at the Heritage Conservancy. I look forward to a very productive year with the Council."

Mr. David has served as Heritage Conservancy's president since 1987. His previous experience included work within municipal government, including managing a 500-acre passive and active recreational and environmental education facility and administering municipal wetland protection regulations. In addition, Mr. David continues to serve on the boards of several for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
