TELFORD, PA -- Seasoned cyclists and weekend pleasure riders enjoyed the beauty and heritage of Bucks and Montgomery counties by participating in Heritage Conservancy's River to River Route 113 Heritage Bicycle Ride on Saturday, July 26.

Cyclists chose 25, 50, 75 or 100-mile figure eight loops of varied terrain along lightly traveled roads adjacent to the scenic Route 113 corridor, traversing small, quaint towns from the Delaware River to the Schuylkill River through two of Pennsylvania's most historic counties—Bucks and Montgomery Counties.

Pennsylvania State Representative Robert W. Godshall joined the festivities at the Penn Valley Church in Telford where cyclists began the ride. Rep. Godshall supported this year's Route 113 Heritage Corridor River to River Bike Ride with a $5,000 grant to help fund the Conservancy's Heritage Tourism Initiative, a project that will expand the marketing and visibility of tourism in the Corridor.

The Route 113 Heritage Corridor began as a 30-mile transportation and cultural link to the Germanic farming communities surrounding Philadelphia from the Delaware River to the Schuylkill River. Today this culturally significant roadway is under significant pressure from advancing suburbanization. Proceeds from the ride will benefit Heritage Conservancy's preservation efforts along the Route 113 Heritage Corridor.

Heritage Conservancy is working with farmers, local businesses, historic societies and cultural organizations to raise awareness and offer sustainable options for conservation and "post preservation" land stewardship designed to preserve the viability of the Corridor's agricultural heritage.
