Union National Bank (1876)
Telford and Souderton Boroughs, Montgomery County
A visit to the historic Union National Bank in Souderton and the surrounding 1.2 square miles of town will take the visitor back in time to experience the vision of the founding Soudertonians. Built in 1876 by local builders Hemsing and Souder for a mere $1,447, the prominent Union National Bank used the Greek Revival architecture of a Hatboro bank for its exterior and the layout of a Lansdale bank for its interior. All of the framing and furnishings for Union National Bank were made at a local Souderton mill and the interior woodwork actually came from the lumber of oak trees that grew along West Broad Street in Souderton! Today this prominent brick gem is used primarily as a conference center.
