Cooks Creek Beginners Fly Fishing Workshop
Cooks Creek Beginners Fly Fishing WorkshopJUNE 4, 2005
On a beautiful day in June, Heritage Conservancy members and friends gathered to experience fly-fishing, and to learn about Cooks Creek, the last cold-water fishery in Bucks County that supports naturally reproducing trout.
In partnership with Bucks County Trout Unlimited, Heritage Conservancy offered a two-hour workshop in the basics of fly-fishing, including equipment and knot tying, fly tying, stream biology and casting techniques.
Participants also learned about the importance of conserving Cooks Creek. The Cooks Creek Watershed is composed of steep forested ridges, deep spring-fed ravines, and a wide fertile limestone valley, containing rich agricultural soils and working farms.
